Pakistan’s information and communication technology (ICT) exports reached a record-breaking $354 million in July 2025, registering a robust 23.8% year-on-year increase compared to $286 million in July 2024. On a month-to-month basis, exports rose 4.4% from June’s $338 million, sustaining strong growth momentum.
The outstanding performance boosted the ICT sector’s trade surplus to $317 million, the highest among all service categories and a notable 25.8% increase from last year. By comparison, most other service industries struggled to maintain positive momentum, further underscoring ICT’s role as Pakistan’s most dynamic export segment.
According to official data, ICT exports now represent 47.5% of Pakistan’s total services exports, significantly outpacing “Other Business Services,” the second-largest contributor with $151 million in July earnings.
In contrast, the overall services sector posted a deficit of $126 million in July 2025, highlighting the digital economy’s critical role in offsetting weaknesses in traditional services.
The sector’s rapid expansion reflects Pakistan’s growing digital footprint in global markets, with technology-driven exports continuing to anchor the country’s external trade resilience.
