According to an official, up to 3,000 Indian Sikh pilgrims traveled via the Wagah Border on Saturday to arrive in the provincial capital of Punjab, Pakistan, to take part in the traditional Baisakhi celebration.
At the border of Wagah, the Indian pilgrims were welcomed by senior officers, Rana Shahid, additional secretary shrines of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), and Sardar Ramash Singh Orara, the first Sikh Minister in Punjab province of Pakistan and President of the Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
According to ETPB spokesman Amir Hashmi, “up to 2,400 Indian Sikh pilgrims arrived here today to attend Baisakhi festivities in Gurdwara Punja Sahib, Hassanabdal,” PTI was informed. The ETPB maintains the sacred sites for Pakistan’s ethnic communities.
